Twilight Casting Call
Attention Twilight-devotees: Has your sizzling, wolfy, imprinted passion for our beloved series fizzled? Has Edward's razzle-dazzle ceased to flip your switch lately? We're stuck in a bit of a rut, with 18 months between last June's Eclipse release and Breaking Dawn's November 2011 debut, so we thought we'd wet your whistle with a few tantalizing pictures of the cast. Exhibit A:

Isle Esme...um...Yes, please! |
Today, we decided to cope with the dreadful, unfair, is-it-time-yet, ten-month-long countdown to Breaking Dawn opening in theaters with our own little casting call. The last few months in Twilight news have been filled with buzz about the cast...
SO many vampires!
WHO will play them all?
As we read the fourth book of the saga, we both had visions of vampires dancing in our heads. One we discussed at length (probably because we both enjoyed his character so much) was Garrett. Even though we had very different pictures in our heads, when you line them all up, we were both pretty close to the way Stephenie Meyer saw him:
Other great new additions to the cast include:
Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy). She is only listed on the "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" IMDB page, which fits right into our theory on what will be included in Part 1 and what will be included in Part 2. We think the wedding, honeymoon, pregnancy, and the birth/Edward changing Bella will be included in Part 1 and the rest of the action will be saved for Part 2. The anticipation is killing us!
Here are a couple characters we thought were cast perfectly:

Maggie (Irish Coven) Marlane Barnes |
![]() |
Benjamin (Egyptian Coven) Rami Malek |
![]() |
Zafrina (Amazon Coven) Judith Sheknoi |

Tanya (Denali Clan) Myanna Buring |
Characters we thought might have been better cast:
Rosalie's casting is something we have discussed again and again. Rosalie is described as exceptionally beautiful, even for a vampire; she is tall, statuesque, and has long, wavy, blonde hair. While she was human, she was said to be a woman with elegance, class, and eyes the color of violets.
Sarah envisioned someone like Hayden Panettiere. Lindsay considered Blake Lively or maybe Olivia Wilde (when she was blonde). So, Lindsay googled "Rosalie Hale casting" and found site after site offering ideas for a better Rosalie. All three of our ideas were mentioned along with Evan Rachel Wood, Rachel McAdams, and Kristen Bell. We would like to clarify that we are not Nikki Reed haters (there are some people who feel WAY more strongly about this issue than we do.) She just isn't who we pictured when we read it.
Let's talk about Jasper. Catherine Hardwick cast Jackson Rathbone (pictured a few shots below with the other Edward prospects) after he didn't make the cut for Edward (thank God). He's so awkward looking. And what is with that accent? It's certainly not Southern, which he is supposed to be, and it seems to come and go. He is described as tall with honey blond hair, is muscular but lean, and is physically 20 years old. Here's who we might have pictured for Alice's love:

Brooding. Mmm. |

What? He could be 20... and he's certainly dangerous. |
But, Director Catherine Harwicke recently revealed who her OTHER choices were for Edward Cullen. She also stated that she referred to them as Bachelors 1, 2 and 3:
If you're missing Twilight like we are, we highly recommend picking up a book and re-reading the series before November...Or, check out Bree Tanner if you haven't already...Or, re-visit Midnight Sun online. Double yum!

Crazy. Wild. Reckless. Vamptastic.
Here's a glimpse at the fangtastic costume party we threw last year!
We were a little late to the game as far as Twilight is concerned. Our obsession began Spring 2009, long after the completion of the series, and even after the DVD release of the first movie. We both thought, "Eh, not really for us. Not into the whole vampire thing. Not too into sci-fi. This is kid stuff...Or dork stuff." (Well, are we being honest, or aren't we?)
And then it happened...Sarah read the first book and felt like she'd been struck by lightning. Sparkly-vampire-lightning. Lindsay took the bait soon afterwards (because Sarah kept saying, "Twilight is HOT") and before long we both finished the series in record-breaking, post-baby reading time. Bitten by Twilight. **This is where we must give a shout out to Twi-crazy friend Jenn, who knew we'd love Twilight long before we did, but was oh-so-patient waiting for us to get on board. Thanks Jenn!!** Lindsay has been Team Edward from day one, Sarah waffled a lot but always leaned in the direction of Team Jacob. So what do you do when all of your friends are obsessed with a fictional saga, and Halloween is conveniently drawing near? Host a theme costume party, of course!
[SPOILER ALERT!!] If you have not finished the series, some party ideas and pictures may give away plotlines...
Throw your own Twilight party in 10 easy steps.
Step 1: Buy an apple corer and white tapers. This was a super simple way to include the book cover art in our decorations.
Step 2: Buy some Vampire wine (we got ours at Cost Plus World Market) and bring along any books, games, etc. featuring Twilight.

Step 3: Gotta have blood red velvet cupcakes! Sarah's fabulous baking skills made these yummy treats happen! You can find recipes here and here.
Step 4: Lots of red & black. More apples. A pretty centerpiece (found in the Target Halloween aisle). Twilight chocolates from our trip to Forks. Lots of candles. If you want paper party supplies, they're available too!

Step 5: 'Blood' jello shots. Labels read: "Type O Negative. Take one at a time, as needed. 1 0f 4 refills. Dr. Cullen".

Step 6: Twilight word magnets (also purchased at Dazzled By Twilight). This was a lot of fun.

Step 7: Buy someone whose birthday is conveniently close to Halloween a life-sized Edward so he can join the party! *Side note: Edward now resides in Lindsay's scrap room...and...we didn't fix our red eyes in this picture on purpose. tee hee.

Step 8: Purchase the movie specials by People Magazine or UsWeekly (whatever is current on the newstands) for pics and posters to hang around the house. ATTN TEAM EDWARD: please notice who graces the cover of both issues! Grrrrrrr.

Step 9: Brainstorm a fabulous costume...our party included Baseball Edward, Prom Bella, Italy Edward, Forks, Sam Uley & Emily Young, Honeymoon Bella, and First-hunt Bella.
Making First-hunt Bella was fun, you have to get creative! Sarah found an ice-blue frock at Goodwill in perfect condition and proceeded to drag it through the blackberry brambles outside her house. She sewed in some twigs and weeds and pinned some in her hair that night also, to really give off a "just got done chasing down wild game" vibe.
Lindsay wore a mens dress shirt as Honeymoon Bella. She hot-glued feathers all over the shirt and pinned them in her wig. Dan helped created bruises on her arms, face, and chest with yellow, burgandy, and navy eye shadow. "Why am I covered in feathers and bruises?"
Step 10: Gather a group of rowdy twi-hards who share your obsession and party!
We found some great ideas from Hostessblog.com and downloaded 5x7 quotes which we posted all over the house.
The great idea that wasn't meant to be: Jones Soda released Halloween flavors in years past and we really wanted this one but never found it for sale anywhere. Maybe you'll run across some!
Have fun hosting your Twilight party!

Population 3,175: Vampires 8.5
Jealous much that we live in Washington and can roadtrip to FORKS whenever we need to be dazzled? I bet! Check out our silly little adventure (complete with our 'I (heart) sparkly vampires' shirts):
Such a fun day with Sarah and our friend, Krista!
The Twilight franchise has changed this little town so much! The Chamber of Commerce has a map and asks visitors to place a pin where they live. The only place in the world that they have not had a visitor from is Greenland. SERIOUSLY! When we were there, there were people visiting from Australia. Imagine planning a trip to Forks, WA from Australia.
Most of the landmarks in Forks are based on the 'book locations' as the movies were filmed mainly in Oregon and Vancouver BC. Anyhow, the town has embraced the fans and plays along with signs, maps, and Twilight merchandise everywhere.

We visited the Forks welcome sign, Bella's house, Forks High School, Forks Community Hospital, The Sheriff's Office, Bella's truck, the Cullen house, the treaty line, First & Third Beach in La Push, took a beautiful (slightly unplanned) hike, looked for Edward in the trees, and headed to Bella Italia in Port Angeles for some mushroom ravioli!

If you're a fan and can't physically make it to Forks, visit Dazzled by Twilight (the exclusive Twilight store in Forks and Port Angeles) or peruse the Forks Chamber of Commerce site here. If you want even more insight on this little town, watch the documentary Twilight in Forks.
Thanks for the memories, Forks. Won't soon be forgotten by any of us!
